How Kubeterm compares

Most people evaluating a Kubernetes GUI are weighing two or three at once. These pages lay out the differences plainly — including the things the alternatives do better than we do.

Choosing a Kubernetes client

What is the best free Kubernetes GUI?
Kubeterm and Headlamp are both free on macOS, Windows, and Linux. Headlamp is open source; Kubeterm adds a built-in AI assistant, native Argo CD and Flux CD support, and iOS and Android apps. Lens has a free tier, but its AI assistant and GitOps dashboards are paid features.
What is the best alternative to Lens?
Kubeterm is free on desktop with no account, and includes an AI assistant, GitOps dashboards, and mobile apps at no cost. FreeLens is a community-maintained open-source fork of the Lens core. Headlamp is a free Kubernetes SIG project that also runs in-cluster as a shared web UI.
Which Kubernetes client works on a phone?
Kubeterm has iOS and Android apps covering the same core workflows as the desktop client, including log streaming, container terminals, and AI-assisted investigation. Lens and Headlamp have no mobile apps.
Do these tools need anything installed in my cluster?
Kubeterm and Lens both connect directly to the Kubernetes API from your machine using your existing kubeconfig. Headlamp can run the same way as a desktop app, and can also be deployed inside the cluster as a shared web UI.

Our approach to these pages

Every comparison names what the other product does better, because a page that claims we win on everything isn't useful to anyone deciding between them. Facts are checked against each vendor's own documentation and store listing, and dated so you know how fresh they are. If we've got something wrong, tell us and we'll correct it.
